Surrounded by 400-acres of nature reserve and a two-mile velvet sand beach, this is a beautiful and luxurious resort on the edge of Borneo’s tropical wilderness. The two-mile stretch of beach is immaculate and the water is, on the whole, much cleaner than off the coast of nearby Gaya island.
The swimming pools resemble tropical lagoons and there’s a tennis court, croquet lawn and water sports centre where kayaks and paddle-boards can be hired. Next to it is a 18-hole golf course where guests can play at discounted rates and a brilliant spa centre that offers both Malaysian and international treatments. Rooms come fully equipped with modern coffee machines, large televisions and the bathrooms are bright and marble-clad throughout, with spacious walk-in showers.
The open-air Makan Street restaurant recreates the feel of a Malaysian street market while the Japanese restaurant, Kozan, offers its guests fresh local sushi and sashimi. The Indian restaurant, Naan, is equally phenomenal; for cocktails and live music, guests can head to the Lobby Lounge; Coffee Terrace has everything from Asian soups to fresh American pancakes and French pastries.
