One & Only Palmilla, Cabo

square

Located at the edge of the Baja Peninsula, along the breathtaking Sea of Cortez, One&Only Palmilla is one of Mexico’s premier spa resorts. The chic resort is known for its private beachfront access, rich history and extraordinary views of the Los Cabos landscape, and the One&Only Spa offers guests a choice of therapeutic treatments in 13 private villas.

Built in 1956, One&Only Palmilla was once a 15-room luxury getaway constructed for the President of Mexico’s son, Don Abelardo Rodriguez. Because the private resort was solely accessible by a private plane or yacht, its initial guests were celebrities like Lucille Ball, John Wayne, and Dwight D. Eisenhower, former president of the United States.

The rooms have contemporary Mexican interiors with handcrafted woodwork, and picturesque views of the turquoise waters. Each comes equipped with a flat-screen TV and iPod docking station as well. The Pool Casita Suites have a private, infinity-edge pool and terrace, where you can unwind in luxury with panoramic sea views before you.

Dine at the refined seafood and steak restaurant, SEARED, where Michelin-starred chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, creates exquisite delicacies. Agua by Larbi is another option that offers signature, seasonal Mexican cuisine crafted by French culinary master, Larbi Dahrouch, who brings to life a medley of simple, farm-to-table ingredients, and has the occasional Tequila tasting for guests.

TOUR LOCATION

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Riveting / Fascinating facts about the area:
  • Considered the peaceful sister town of wild Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo has quiet plazas, a historic church and exquisite dining options. Together with Cabo San Lucas, the area is better known as Los Cabos.
  • Cabo San Lucas, which is twenty minutes away from the resort, is sometimes referred to as the ‘Striped Marlin Capital’ of the world, with the Sea of Cortez being home to more striped marlin fish than almost anywhere else. In fact, marlin fishing draws many tourists to the city, especially during the annual marlin fishing tournament, which is the highest-paying contest internationally with winnings of over 2 million dollars.
  • Cabo San Lucas is also referred to as the ‘End of the Earth’, because of its position at the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula.
Interesting people: Meet Enrique Olvera, the Mexican chef who opened Pujol, one of the 50 Best Restaurants of Latin America, in Mexico City. He studied at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, and later opened Manta in Los Cabos, named after the Manta Ray, which symbolizes the eatery’s focus on global seafood specialities. Olvera’s marked attention to detail, and emphasis on ingredient selection can be seen and tasted in the complex flavours and construction of his dishes. He is indeed a culinary expert, whose perennial exploration of Mexico’s culinary potential is unrestrained and absolutely unique. A true mastermind! [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
