The tiny region of St. Lucia has English as the official language, but the lingua franca is a French-based Patois that employs African vocabulary and structures. Similarly, the local cuisine blends French and Island tradition with local ingredients.

Meet John Robert Lee, one of St. Lucia’s most famous writers.
