Meet the Estonian singer and songwriter, Kerli Kõiv, popularly known as Kerli. In 2009, she won the Estonian Music Award for Pop Artist of the Year, and the Estonian Music Award for Female Artist of the Year, both for her album titled ‘Herself’. She also won the European Border Breakers Award the same year for her debut studio album, ‘Love Is Dead’. Kerli made a shift away from alternative rock around this time, and began to adopt electronic- and dance-influenced tones, reflected in her 2010 single, ‘Army of Love’.
