Explore a delicate maze of twenty-five connecting Golden Age canal houses at Pulitzer, Amsterdam, where traditional and modern Dutch craftsmanship blend to create an upscale haven. After a full renovation in 2016, the neighborhood was recreated to feature elements of quintessential Dutch elegance with tranquil inner gardens, beautiful bedrooms, a garden café, an event space, and a bar and restaurant.

Thanks to its illustrious heritage, the hotel is a historic space today with 17th- and 18th-century houses along the famous Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canals. Apart from the lovely residential vibe of the area, the rooms and suites in each canal house are individually decorated with intricate decor accents and warm furnishings that make them feel much like home. Each room has classic yet cosy interiors, and comes equipped with a flat screen TV, a minibar and free WiFi.

Guests can have their morning coffees and light fare at Pause, or drop by at Jansz for simple, upscale dining with artfully-crafted Dutch and international flavors. The hotel also has a bar that serves timeless cocktails, where guests can socialize and enjoy views of the canals.

TOUR LOCATION

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Riveting/Fascinating facts about the area:
  • Pulitzer’s canal houses set the scene for prosperous business deals between trade merchants historically. These intricate canals were also home to Dutch aristocrats, who enjoyed flamboyant, lavish lifestyles in these very quarters.
  • The city is called Amsterdam because in the 13th century, a dam was built across the Amstel river. At the time, the city was largely a trading centre with fishermen and merchants.
  • The city’s native language is Dutch, but Amsterdam is home to over 150 ethnicities and nationalities, offering an amalgamation of different languages, including much spoken English.
Interesting people: Meet the Dutch cinematographer, Paul van den Bos, and learn about the intricacies of cinematography in the region. Van den Bos joined the studio of Ed van der Elsken, after studying at the Instituut voor Kunstnijverheidsonderwijs in Amsterdam, and has great experience in the field. He worked for 28 years on shows for VPRO broadcasting organization as cameraman for the popular Van Kooten en De Bie television program. As cinematographer, his works include Dagboek van een Oude Dwaas, The Other End of the Tunnel, and Hans: het leven voor de dood. In 2002, he was awarded the Newport Beach Film Festival Jury Award Best Cinematography for Nynke. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
