Çırağan Palace Kempinski is an upscale luxury hotel set in the majestic Ottoman Imperial palace by the Bosphorus River. It has a grand selection of elegant rooms and suites, as well as a heated infinity pool which recreates the feeling of floating on the Bosphorus.

The rooms and suites have plush, traditional interiors with lovely views of the gardens, the Asian coast and the Bosphorus river. Each spacious room comes equipped with a flat screen TV, minibar, and sophisticated bathroom amenities. Guests can unwind with on-site spa treatments in gorgeous massage rooms, or take a Turkish bath in lavish, marble interiors.

The hotel offers a choice of eateries that bring the vibrant ambience of Istanbul’s bustling social life to the palace. Guests can wander through the seventeenth-century gate in the gardens of the palace, to the Laledan Restaurant which serves the best brunches in the city; or dine on Ottoman and Turkish delicacies at the fine dining restaurant, Tuğra. For a la carte breakfast, delicious pastries and cakes, Gazebo is open until midnight, and for simple, al fresco dining, Bosphorus Grill, is the go-to restaurant.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Riveting/Fascinating facts about the area:
  • Once known as Byzantine, Istanbul became the city of Constantinople, after the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, when it was chosen as the capital of the Roman Empire. The city was built on seven hills to match the seven hills of Rome.
  • The only city in the world that straddles two continents, namely Europe and Asia, Istanbul remains a confluence of cultures with easily visible demarcations of East and West in the city, on either side of the Bosphorus River.
  • The lively city is home to the biggest covered market in the world: The Grand Bazaar. There are over 3,000 shops inside the market, that sell everything from Turkish and Persian carpets to decor accents, spices and jewellery.

Interesting people:

Meet Ara Güler, an Armenian-Turkish photojournalist, better know as the ‘Eye of Istanbul’ thanks to his incredible photography skills. Known as one of Turkey's few internationally-known photographers, Güler emphasizes on human presence in his photography, and describes himself as a "visual historian". A man of much depth and intensity, his photography captures life in places like Iran, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Kenya, New Guinea, Borneo, as well as all parts of Turkey.
