Fancourt, South Africa

Fancourt, South Africa

per person

Tucked between mountains and forests in the heart of the Garden Route, Fancourt Hotel offers luxurious and stylish accommodation and features three Gary Player designed golf courses and a wellness centre to give their guests a holistic experience.

Today, Fancourt has become a global landmark for business, leisure and golfing travel but its gradual expansion can be traced back to the establishment of the Manor House by its first custodian, Henry Fancourt White, whose role in the development of the commercial infrastructure around the Montagu Pass led to the establishment of the Blanco House – his esteemed family home and predecessor to the current Manor House.

The Fancourt has four fine-dining restaurants that serve international cuisine, prepared using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The hotel also has a bar that offers regional wines and a spacious garden terrace.

Fancourt’s spa has an indoor heated Roman Bath as well as a leisure centre which comes with a kids’ club, fitness centre, cinema and outdoor swimming pool. Guests can also enjoy other leisure activities including tennis, running and walking trails, bird watching and fishing.

  Interesting people:

Meet Jenna Burchell, an artist from South Africa. Following a 2006 visit to London, Jenna started exploring the possibilities of touch-activated sound sculpture and in her installation Homing (2013-15), Jenna produced a series of discrete sound recordings from various cities triggered by touching geometrically arranged copper wires.

Her technological aptitude and craft as a sculptor are evident; what is most striking is her use of sound to create an impressionistic record of place and memory.
