An awe-inspiring space, remodeled by celebrated British designer Thomas Heatherwick with a plush eclectic decor, towering above the V&A Waterfront surrounded by the natural wonder of South Africa’s Mother City, The Silo is truly a destination hotel.
With an easy access to the pedestrian pleasures of the Waterfront, this is just a few steps from the Robben Island ferry, a five-minute stroll to the V&A shopping mall and right above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA), due to open in September 2017.
The interiors are an eclectic mix of Egyptian chandeliers, shimmering Persian carpets and bold color choices. Décor aside, the pillowed glass windows with their shape inspired by grain kernels and intended by Heatherwick to glow like lanterns above the harbor are the most interesting feature of the hotel.
The Silo Hotel has 28 rooms, including a spectacular one bedroom penthouse. Each room has been individually designed and decorated by the stylish wand of Liz Biden. Colorful and eclectic pieces juxtapose the modern, industrial architecture.
Bathrooms have the best views in the city, with the bathtub centered on another pillowed window, and an oblique view from the shower. All the rooms come with a TV, Nespresso machine, kettle/tea station, minibar, air-conditioning and Penhaligon’s toiletries.
